Captured ship: Thomas and Joan of Cork (master William Hardin; prize master Job Cornelis of Rotterdam)
History: an Irish merchant ship (30-40 tons, unarmed, 6 prize crew and 3 prisoners when retaken; built in Ireland), bound from Bordeaux to Cork, laden with French wine and brandy; taken on 30 March/9 April 1673 about 40 leagues west of Scilly by the 18-gun Dutch privateer Flushing Frigot (Andreas Master commanding) and sent in for Flushing; retaken on 31 March/10 April about 25 leagues west of Scilly by HMS Resolution (John Berry commanding) and brought into Plymouth on 2/12 April 1673. The prize master tore up his copy of the privateering commission and threw it overboard when the ship was retaken.
