Description

Captured ship: Salvador of Lubeck (master Hendrick Benke of Lubeck, otherwise Bencke, Benk)

History: a Lubeck merchant ship (130-150 tons; built at Lubeck for owners about 4 years before), bound from Bordeaux to Lubeck, laden with high country French wine, town wine, brandy and vinegar; taken on 22 April/2 May 1673 about 12 leagues off Falmouth and Plymouth by HMS Morning Star (Francis Reade commanding) and brought into Plymouth the same day.

Court Papers, numbered CP 1-4:-

  • [CP 1]: standing interrogatories;
  • [CP 2]: standing interrogatories;
  • [CP 3]: three examinations taken at Plymouth, 23 April 1673;
  • [CP 4]: three examinations taken at Plymouth, 8 May 1673.
