Captured ship: St Peter of Bruges (master Philip Comeines, otherwise Philip Comens).
History: a Flemish (Spanish Netherlands) merchant ship (27 tons), bound from Bordeaux to Ostend and Nieuwpoort, laden with wine, brandy and prunes; seized to the use of the Lord Admiral on 15/25 December 1672 off Brighton (Brighthelmstone) by John Glover. The master said that he had been instructed to say that, if he met English ships, that he was bound for Dover; if he met any other ships, he was to say that he was bound for Nieuwpoort in Flanders. Later the master confessed that he was from Middelburg. Papers found, some were admitted to have been thrown overboard. Ship was thought to have been previously taken, plundered and left by a Dutch privateer.
