Description

Captured ship: Pearl of Hamburg (master Nicolas Mertens, otherwise Nicholas Martins).

History: a Hamburg merchant ship, bound from Bilbao to Ostend, laden with Spanish wool and sweetmeats, and with five passengers (to whom a file of letters may have belonged); taken in December 1672 by the privateer Prosperous (Anthony Morin commanding), and brought into Dover.
