Captured ship: Peace, otherwise Vrede of Rotterdam (master Johannes Williamson Stoope, otherwise Pierr Wilhelms, Pieter Willemson Stoop).

History: a Dutch merchant ship, bound from Rotterdam to London, laden with steel consigned by a subject of Cologne; seized in the River Thames on 1 March 1671/1672.

Allegation and claim (16 April 1672) of Anne (otherwise Anna), widow of Daniel Wille of Cullin [Cologne] for goods in ship Peace of Rotterdam, master Peter Williamson Stope, taken by HMS Dunkirk.

Anne, widow of Daniel Wille of Cullin [Cologne] in Germany, has been an inhabitant there for 20 years and has corresponded with Abraham Otgar, English merchant of London, her factor, yearly sending him barrels of steel. In March 1672 Anna instructed another of her factors, Abraham Olbra, to lade 10 barrels of steel (merchant mark in text) in the ship Peace of Rotterdam, consigned to Abraham Otgar, as per 2 exhibits attached [neither are here] a bill of lading and a letter of advice found in the ship Peace.

The ship was taken before the declaration of war, by HMS Dunkirk and brought into London. Cologne is in amity and friendship with the King of England.
