Captured ship: St Peter of Enkhuizen otherwise St Peter of Vlieland (master Baren Cornelius).
History: a Dutch merchant ship, bound from Cherbourg to Amsterdam via Vlieland, laden with glass and ballast; taken on 28 April off Dover by HMS Richmond (Naphtali Ball commanding) and brought into Portsmouth.
Allegation and claim (16 August 1672) of Lewis de Formeaux & Co of Rouen, for glass.
Lewis de Formeaux, Lewis Haye & Co, citizens of Rouen, subjects of France, great traders in glass to Holland, England and other countries. De Formeaux has share in glass house at Cherbourg. In February-March 1671/1672 ships were embargoed at outbreak of war; permission to sail was obtained by May 1672, when the ship left Cherbourg bound for Amsterdam. De Formeaux had his factor Nicholas Noyon lade the ship at Cherbourg with 83 baskets of glass, consigned to David le Cordier at Amsterdam.
