Captured ship: Grave of Holland [otherwise Graaf van Holland] or Earl of Holland (master John Johnson, otherwise Jan Jansen). History: a Dutch privateer, bound on a cruise (from a port within the jurisdiction of the Amsterdam admiralty); taken on 21/31 December 1673 by HMS Ruby (Stephen Pyend commanding) and brought into London.
Allegation in Pyend v The Grave of Holland , 12 May 1674. Mentions the privateering commission and other papers found aboard. Captain and crew of the ship were landed at Newcastle and the ship afterwards brought into the River Thames.
