No 27.
Captured ship: Fortune of Newcopen / Nykøbing (master Jan Pieterss Leeuw of Edam, otherwise Jan Peterson Lieuw, Jean Pietersen Leuw).
History: a Danish-Norwegian merchant ship ([galliot], 150 tons, built at Zaandam, bought at Amsterdam, October 1669, belonging to the Queen of Denmark as sole owner), bound from Oleron, La Rochelle and St Martin de Ré to Hamburg, laden with salt, brandy, wine, vinegar, molasses and paper; taken on 11/21 May 1672 about 4 leagues off Falmouth by HMS Newcastle (Anthony Langstone commanding), and brought into Falmouth the same day.
Allegation and claim (no date) of Adrian de la Croix of La Rochelle, sugar refiner and merchant, for molasses and syrup laded on his account at La Rochelle for delivery to Albert Ellers of Hamburg, his factor at Hamburg. The bill of lading was made out as on the account of Ellers only in case of capture by Dutch privateers (as being the property of a Frenchman).
