Captured ship: Eendracht or Unity of Delfshaven, otherwise Indraught (master Claus Ariensen Warren [otherwise Claus Adrienss]).
History: a Dutch merchant ship (fluit, 250 tons), bound from [Delfshaven or Rotterdam] on 4/14 March 1671/1672; taken on [7/17 or 8/18 March 1671/1672] by HMS Guernsey (Charles Montagu commanding)], and brought first into Dover [on 8/18 March 1671/1672, the master and crew afterwards escaping ashore at Dover.
Allegation (24 April 1672), in Montagu v The Unity (5pp). Includes an intercepted letter (in Dutch) of Claes Ariense, master (at Dover) to Pijeter van Loedesteen (Rotterdam), 9/19 March 1671/1672, reporting that on 7/17 March 1671/1672 was taken off Winchelsea by 3 unnamed Royal Navy warships and brought into Dover on 8/18 March. The master and crew were left on the ship, but feared they would be put in prison; asks [the owner] for instructions.
