:Folios 542-543: Philip Wilkinson, HMS Hussar, Sheerness. Responds to the request for the qualifications of 5 French Pilots. William Rousseau served in HMS Success off Havre and was diligent and appeared to know that part of the coast well. Alexander Le Grand was often a state of intoxication, quarrelsome and abusive and twice nearly lost HMS Unicorn. He did not appear to have sufficient knowledge. John Jermain served for a short time in HMS Unicorn as an extra Pilot; he had appropriate behaviour and was discharged into the Royal George. Joachim Guzell was sober and attentive and appeared to have knowledge of that part of the coast. James Le Bozec had good character prior to the Captain taking command of the Naiad, but opines that he should not be granted the indulgence.
