Folios 520-521: William Wilkinson, HMS Gorgon, Leith Roads. Encloses a letter from the Board of Excise at Edinburgh concerning the Revenue vessels used for pressing. It appears that the vessels stay out at sea to avoid being sent on service. He asks for directions to be given for future proceedings.
Folios 522-523: enclosure with folios 520-521. Letter dated 9 September 1803 by James Dunden, Agent for Yachts, Excise Office, Edinburgh, to Captain Wilkinson. Responding to the letter which has been put before the Excise Board. He is directed to inform that the Excise yachts are put under the directions of Officers of HM Ships only when the Excise Commissioners do not issue orders. The yachts remain at Leith ready to implement orders from the Treasury and the service of the Revenue and not the Admiralty.
