Folios 378-379: Daniel Woodriff, HMS Calcutta, Chatham. The ship is now down to the greatest draft of water that the Pilots will take charge of a ship. He will get the rigging set up and such stores from the dockyard as they cannot do without and proceed to Blackstakes as soon as possible. Most of the provisions for the crew and settlers are on board plus those for HMS Investigator, but those for the convicts and for the settlement are yet to come. He is concerned that enough secure stowage can be found. The Yard Officers have also informed him of the stores to be taken on for HMS Porpoise. He would have preferred to have taken on the extra stores at Portsmouth with the inclement weather. He is still struggling to get able seamen and has been obliged to accept what men as he can find.
