Folios 266-267: [James Athol] Wood, HMS Acasta, Guernsey Roads. HMS Nimble and HMS Insolent have anchored and he has directed the latter to join Captain Hill at Jersey. After the examination of the Masters of two French fishing vessels, one form Cancale and the other from Granville and Nicholas Delare, Master of a Guernsey trader who has been in a French prison, he concludes that the previous intelligence from the Guernsey Governor, previously relayed, is not dependable. The Newfoundland vessels are fitting out and sailing daily, the flat boats sailing from St. Malo to Cherbourg were carrying stores for pier construction and there are only 3 demi- brigades of troops at St. Malo, which had been there for several months.
