Folios 256-257: [James Athol] Wood, HMS Acasta, Guernsey. Advised by small vessels arriving from the French coast there are 15,000 men at St. Malo, the telegraphs have been at work for 2 days along the French coast, 20 flat boats recently sailed from St. Malo to Cherbourg and there has been an embargo on French fishing vessels bound to Newfoundland. General Doyle advises of information received that an attack on Jersey and Guernsey is imminent. Asks for small vessels on this station.
