Folios 247-248: enclosure with folios 245-246. Letter dated 3 March 1803 by Thomas Trimmer, Midshipman, HMS Acasta, to Captain James Athol Wood. About what gave rise to the report that Lieutenant Gallway had corresponded with Bonaparte. In response to receipt of a letter addressed to him at Greenwich forwarded to Portsmouth and then on to London, Lieutenant Gallway said to Lieutenant Muir"No, no Mr. Bonaparte", tore it, throwing part in the fire, leaving a piece on the table which had" Liberte et Egalite" printed on it. He then asked Lieutenant Muir whether he would like to command a French frigate. The letter appeared to be a circular filled up in different parts with writing.
