Folios 401-402: Henry Waring, HMS Serapis, Carlisle Bay, Barbados. Encloses a copy of a letter from Commodore Hood, Commander in Chief of HM Ships and Vessels in the Leeward Isles. Information of a vessel called La Julie said to be a Prize to the Diligent of Liverpool, but the latter was at auction at the Whydah Roads on the relevant date 14 August 1803; the capture was made by 3 merchant ships: the Ann under Mr. Flatson [?], the Dart under Mr. Crosley and the Princess Amelia under Mr. Bagel of London. They plundered the ship from 14- 26th August and divided the 1600 Guineas between the 3 ships. He has recorded her with the Admiralty Court of Barbados. The Dart has sailed for Liverpool and the other 2 are expected there shortly. The Diligence has returned and one of Waring’s officers has gone aboard and copied the log and the confession of its Captain David Marshall. It does not appear that the Diligence had seen the Julie before. He intends to detain the Ann or Princess Amelia should he see them to provide answers o their conduct.
