Folios 140-141: Thomas Wallbeoff [Regulating Captain] Poole. William Nolum has been impressed. He went out in the Jazo to Newfoundland and the Master of the vessel states that Nolum commenced the duties of Mate when the last one left. Lieutenants Osmer and Richardson have boarded the vessel and found Nolum's name on the articles but inserted as Mate after the articles were stamped. The Owner of the Jazo intends to bring an action on the man's detention and refuses to sign the Custom House document needed by the Merchant to obtain the bounty on the codfish. David Starmit another Mate is detained since his ship has no articles. Mr. Kemp is bringing an action on the detention of this Mate.
