Description

Folios 134-135: James Welsh, London. Was commissioned as Lieutenant of HMS Queen Charlotte in 1799 but when he joined her he was immediately appointed to HMS Barfleur by Vice Admiral Lord Keith. Requests payment for his time on HMS Queen Charlotte.

Folios 136-137: enclosure with folios 134-135. Commission from Vice Admiral Lord Keith dated 17 July 1799 to Lieutenant James Welsh, HMS Queen Charlotte, to be Acting Lieutenant of HMS Barfleur.

Folio 138: enclosure with folios 134-135. Commission certificate dated 3 May 1799 appointing James Welsh to be Lieutenant of HMS Queen Charlotte.
