Folios 94-95: Samuel Warren, Bredgar, Sittingbourne, Kent. In response to the Board's letter of the 8th, he deposited the relevant form with the Woolwich Builder, with his observations concerning the qualities of HMS Vesuvius. He only commanded her a short time, coming round from Spithead to the Downs in fine weather and then to Woolwich to be paid off so cannot judge how she would behave in bad weather at sea. He cannot comment on the mode of fitting her sides as he did not use any mortars, but feels it was a better plan than the old way of fitting bombs.
