Description

Captured ship: Little Orangia of Flushing [Klein Oranje] (commander Peter de Vos of Flushing, otherwise Pieter de Vos).

History: a Dutch privateer (100 tons, built at Flushing); taken in fight (lasting about 1 hour) on 14/24 January 1673/4 about 8 leagues SSW of the Mewstone [Great Mew Stone], Devon by HMS Dartmouth (Edward Pinn commanding) and brought into Plymouth on the night of 13-14/23-24 January 1673/4.

Court Papers, numbered CP 1-2:-

  • [CP 1]: standing interrogatories;
  • [CP 2]: two examinations taken at Plymouth [and mentioning mention the privateering commission and 6 printed copies which have not been found], 22 January 1673/4.

Extra information: IND 1/9012 f.63v: condemned 27 March 1674.
