Captured ship: Landsman [Landtsman] of Amsterdam, otherwise Landsheer, Lanceman, or Lanciero (master Derrick Hilbrandtson de Hawne of Waterland, otherwise Hillebrandt Haen).
History: a Dutch merchant ship (600 tons, 26 guns, built at Hoorn), bound from Smyrna (Izmir), Leghorn (Livorno) and Cadiz to Amsterdam, laden with silks, cotton, wool and other goods, also some silver; taken in fight on 13/23 March 1672 off Beachy Head (in company with other Dutch ships, in the 'Smyrna Convoy' action at the outbreak of war in 1672) by HMS Fairfax (George Legge commanding), and brought first into the Downs and then into London.
