Captured ship: King David of Stockholm (master Lambert Jacobson Kickerd of Amsterdam and Stockholm, otherwise Lambert Kickert).
History: a Swedish merchant ship (140 tons, built at Stettin, rebuilt at Amsterdam), bound from Bordeaux to Hamburg, laden with prunes and walnut planks; taken on 15/25 or 16/26 July 1673 in the Downs, after being forced in there to make repairs by very bad weather and leaks, by HMS Hunter (George Colt commanding); for want of a pilot, the ship was driven ashore near Ramsgate and stranded. Later brought into Portsmouth.
The master had been six weeks a prisoner of war at Chelsea College in the last war.
Court Papers, numbered CP 1-3:-
The examinations mention a journal, books, papers and packets of letters [and loose letters] numbered 1-91, but these are not here as the master withdrew his papers [? unusual].
