Folios 302-303: Isaac Wolley, HMS Nonsuch. Enclosing a letter from the regulating captain at Hull, for their Lordships' information. Folios 304-305: enclosure with folios 302-303. Letterdated 4 November 1799 from Captain John Clements, at Leith, commander of gun vessels on the coast of Scotland, advising he has had a letter from Captain Abernibessoss[?] of the Russian frigate Virgin Mary, dated 2 November 1799, lying just south of St Abbs Head, stating his ship was totally dismasted and had lost her bowsprit, and was in great distress, requesting immediate help. Clements ordered the Cynthia, the only ship of war present, to go immediately and offer every assistance.. There is now a Russian 74 here, but the captain says he cannot go to sea in under 3 days. Clements asks that the Admiralty will ensure all commanding officers in the Humber are informed of the state of this frigate and that there is no pilot aboard her, in case they may assist.
