Folios 264-265: Isaac Wolley, HMS Nonsuch. Enclosing a letter from his first lieutenant, William Mules[?], alleging mutinous behaviour by a seaman, John Brown. Asks that their Lordships may direct there to be a court martial on this man. Says that the Nonsuch is in general a very orderly ship and he is sorry to have to make complaint of so flagrant a breach of discipline, but feels it is beyond him to punish so 'heinous an offence' without going first to their Lordships. Folio 266: Enc with folios 264-265: Letter from William Mules. Says he had had occasion to confine two men for broaching beer without orders that day, but that John Brown opposed James Leith, the ship's corporal, in the execution of his duty, and struck him. Mules had gone to his aid but Brown struck him also, a 'violent blow', with much 'mutinous language', and was only confined with difficulty.
