Folios 230-231: Isaac Wolley, HMS Nonsuch. Advising that the ship has been in course of payment since 31 December 1797 and he intends to make out pay books for her to 3 September 1798, so that she may be paid up to that date at a time and port that is suitable. Says the Nonsuch was docked and wood-sheathed in March 1794, upon the same bottom she sailed with in the last war, with only a slight repair. Therefore he fears if she were taken into dock she would now be found to need very thorough repairs. However, as she is not leaky, he thinks she might remain sometime longer in the Humber as guard ship at very little expense, as she wants no immediate attention except caulking and other trifling defects. Suggests it would save a lot of expense to pay the ships on their station, noting it would be necessary in the summer to have a gun ship guarding the entrance to the river, especially if the Nonsuch or the Redoubt were away from their stations to be paid.
