Folios 203-204: Charles Wollaston, HMS Cruizer, Yarmouth. Giving an account of his chase of two luggers, encountered at 11am on 21 May with St Abbs Head bearing north. He had almost caught up with them but was taken aback by a sudden gust that carried away his topmast, resumed his course southwards through the night and refitted the damage. In the morning he discovered one of the ships 8 miles to leeward, gave chase and captured her. She was the Deux Freres, Captain Jacques Bellet, 14 guns (12 of which were thrown overboard during the chase) and 50 crew, out of Calais. He was told by the captain that her companion was the Tippoo, 12 guns, all thrown over during the chase, likely to have gone to France or Norway. As he now has 26 men in prizes, and 50 prisoners on board, he judged it best to come into this port, will land the prisoners and head away to his station.
