Expense account for Captain Winthrop, following his being charged with dispatches at Ostend by Captain Popham and Colonel Ward for the Admiralty, upon the Ostend expedition of 19 to 25 May 1798.
Travelling post Dover to London: £9.4s.0d. Ditto from London to Sheerness, to join his ship: £3.6s.0d. Plus expenses being in attendance in London for 3 days before the board: £3.3s.0d. Total: £15.13s.0d.
