Folios 354-355: John Chambers White, HMS Sylph, Plymouth. Reply to letter dated 12 July 1799 appointing John Wilson Carpenter. I beg to inform that Mr Henry the late Carpenter who absented himself when we sailed on the 8 May 1799 and who I returned absent on my arrival, has since joined by desire of Vice Admiral Sir Thomas Pasley [(Baronet Pasley of Craig)].
