Copy of a letter from [Viscount] Weymouth to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland [the Earl of] Buckingham advising of approval for the successions proposed in his list of 12 November 1778 for the army of Ireland. Notes, however, that 'it would have been regular to have explained' whether there was not an older officer than Lieutenant [Richard] Northey of 30th [Foot] to succeed Captain [John] Gray of the 32nd [Foot] [see SP 63/461/243]. Dated at St James's.
