Description

Folios 243-246. A letter from [the Earl of] Buckingham to Viscount Weymouth concerning succession in the army of Ireland, Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosing: Folios 245-246: List of Successions, dated at Dublin Castle. In the Royal Irish Artillery: With Second Lieutenant John Hill retiring, Mr William Buchannan succeeds him. In 19th Foot Regiment (Graeme's). With Captain William Gordon disposing of his company, Captain Lieutenant John Sherret is to succeed him; Lieutenant William Giles to become Captain; Ensign William Vincent to be Lieutenant; and Mr William Beamish to be Ensign. In 30th Foot (Parslow's): With Lieutenant and Adjutant Thomas Campbell recommended to a captaincy in Captain Gibbet's Company, Ensign William Greene to be lieutenant, John Hodnet to be Ensign; and Lieutenant Tennison Edwards to be Adjutant. In 32nd Foot (Amherst's): With Captain John Gray seeking to retire, Lieutenant Richard Northey of 30th Foot to be Captain. In the 68th Foot (Lambton's): With Major George Munro seeking to retire, Captain James Stuart is willing to be Major; Lieutenant Gilbert Webster to be Captain; Ensign George Montgomery to be Lieutenant; and Mr Robert Greaves to be Ensign. Lieutenant John Macintosh seeking to retire, Ensign George Power to be Lieutenant, and Mr William Innes to be Ensign.
