Folios 366-367: James Athol Wood, HMS Hound, The Nore. Following the orders of Admiral Duncan, he announces his arrival at The Nore. He reports that he had been cruising off the coast of Norway together with HMS Rambler. They called at every port from Blind Sound to Raisway and from both that patrol and the information that he was able to gather from the consul at Christiansand, no enemy has been seen in the vicinity since last September with the exception of one French Republican ship which arrived at North Bergen together with three prize vessels. As soon as Captain Wood heard this news he sailed off to try and apprehend her. A violent storm occurred, however, and HMS Hound and Rambler were separated and despite their best efforts could not locate the ship. At which point orders were received from Captain Rapere of HMS Champion to escort a convoy of merchant ships back to England. He encloses an account of the state and condition of his vessel. (No enclosure included)
