Description

Folios 340-341: Isaac Wolley, HMS Nonsuch. He refers to correspondence about the incident in which the ship Blenheim murdered members of the crew from naval ships in the Humber. It is claimed that the Press Gang did not have press warrants with them when they tried to board The Blenheim and so no prosecution will be insituted by Mr Bicknell. Captain Wolley points out that Mr Bicknell's agent, Mr Jack Wood had taken dispositions from seven witnesses in respect of what occurred. Also he asserts that the press gang did have warrants on them as he had executed them himself. Accordingly Captain Wolley asks the Admiralty to instruct Mr Bicknell to seek an opinion as to the conduct of the Master and Crew of the ship the Blenheim or at the very least to give an order for the cost of the shot used by HMS Nautilus, to be reimbursed, he has affidavits concerning these matters. Captain Wolley is very vexed by the course of action decided upon. He rehearses the details of the incident and asks that the Admiralty think him in no way to blame forwhat occurred.
