Folios 398-399: George Blagden Westcott, HMS Majestic, Hamoaze. Encloses a letter received from a Seaman, and a deserter, [George Fairlie], and asks if the necessary directions can be given to apprehend him.
Folios 400-401: enclosure with folios 398-399. Letter dated 29 March 1797 by George Fairlie [Fairley], to George Blagden Westcott, HMS Majestic, Plymouth. Writes to ask if Westcott will comply with his request to write to the Captain William Pierrepont of HMS Naiad, currently being fitted out at Deptford, confirming his time and service on HMS Majestic, so that he may be appointed as Master's Mate on HMS Naiad. Explains the reason he left HMS Majestic was to gain preferment in the Navy. Says Captain Pierrepont can be reached at the [illegible], Covent Garden while he can be written to via Adam Cockburn, Master of the Trinity at Deptford or at the Black Lion Inn, Water Lane, Fleet Street. Note added to letter by Westcott giving a physical description of George Airlie, aged 27, place of birth Kingston, Middlesex.
