Folios 372-373: Thomas Wells, HMS Defence, Spithead. Encloses a letter from Henry Fyge Jauncey, Lieutenant, and advises that he has no objection to Jauncey's removal if the Admiral think it proper to comply with the request.
Folio 374: enclosure with folios 372-373. Letter dated 20 January 1797 by Henry Fyge Jauncey, Lieutenant, HMS Defence, Spithead to Thomas Wells. Requests that as the ship has been ordered into port, he may be allowed to apply for employment in a frigate or some active situation.
