The Board of the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) are responsible for the governance of the organisation and holding it accountable for meeting its aims. This includes managing the PPF's risk appetite, investment strategy, funding position and forecasts, and strategic plan; setting the levy on pension schemes; and determining the amount paid to PPF and FAS members. The Chair of the Board is appointed by Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. The other Board members are appointed by the Board.
The first non-executive members of the Board of the PPF were appointed in late 2004, and the first formal meeting of the Board took place on 6 January 2005.
