Folios 259-260: Isaac Wolley, Regulating Captain, Lynn. Informs that Philip Watts, Shipwright of Deptford Yard, has been sent by the Navy Commissioners to admeasure the Boats, Lighters, Barges and so on. Advises that it has not been possible to find yet a method of admeasuring the Lighters and asks whether there is a general rule that the Shipwright should use or get their tonnage from the weight commonly put in one vessel and apply it to all other vessels of the sam dimensions. Encloses a copy of an Order given to Lieutenant Alexander McGregor to assist on this service.
Folio 261: enclosure with folios 259-260. Letter dated 17 July 1795 by Isaac Wolley, Regulating Captain, Lynn, to Alexander McGregor, Lieutenant. Order appointing Lieutenant ALexander McGregor to survey, examine and admeasure all Lighters, Barges, Boats, Wherries and other vessels upon and river, canal or other inland navigation within ten miles of the Rendezvous. Directs McGregor and his Midshipmen to assist in the service with the aid of Philip Watts. Travel charges and other reasonable expenses will be allowed.
