Folios 228-229: Isaac Wolley, York. Encloses a letter from Colonel Granville Anson Chetwynd Stapleton of the York Fencibles and requests advice on how to proceed. Explains Sir Thomas Slingsby and John Trip, Justice of the Peace when attesting men have ordered they should be paid the full Bounty at the time of enrolment, contrary to the Act of Parliament which says no more than one third is to be paid to prevent men from deserting. On other occasions they have only ordered part of the Bounty to be paid and the remainder when mustered.
Folios 230-230A: enclosure with folios 228-229. Letter dated 9 March 1795 by Granville Anson Chetwynd Stapleton, Colonel, York Fencibles, York, to Isaac Wolley, York. Advises that William Hitchin, a private soldier in his regiment who enlisted at Tadcaster as a Patten Maker, has now declared himself to be a Seaman and produced a Protection from the Commissioners of Customs at Hull. Confirms he is ready to give him up if Captain Wolley so wishes.
