Folios 212-213: Thomas Wolley, HMS Active. Clarifies details in his public letter to the Board of 12 October in which he asked for two nine pounder long guns and not carronades and that their principal use would be to fire at ships on the bow over the gangways at a time when the chase is so far forward as to render the Quarterdeck carronades useless and before the Bow Chasers can be brought to bear. Says such guns, which were formerly in HMS Arethusa, are in the Gun Wharf and might be easily fitted on HMS Active.
