Description

Folios 212-213. Letter from Lord Harcourt to Lord Weymouth that fear of impressment has lead to a great shortage not only of coal in Dublin and the adjacent country but also fish which means that the inhabitants in general, particularly Roman Catholic, are deprived of a principal part of their food. As this is a matter of real and important concern to Dublin, Harcourt begs leave to submit whether the Admiralty 'might not under such restrictions and regulations as they judge not incompatible' allow their officers stationed on the impress service in Dublin to permit such fishermen as the Lord Mayor shall certify to be employed in supplying the city with fish to pass unmolested. Dated at Dublin Castle.
