Description

Folios 299-304. Letter from the Earl of Buckingham to Lord Viscount Weymouth enclosing a list of 27 public and two private bills to which he gave Royal Assent that day in the House of Peers. Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosed: Folios 301-304: List of 27 Public Bills and 2 Private Bills. The Public Bills relate to: duties, rates and impositions for the use of the Corporation for promoting and carrying on an inland navigation in Ireland; explaining the Act of Faculties; better preservation of fish in rivers, lakes and inland waters; regulation of bread and prevention of fraud in the sale of flour, meal, beer, ale, potatoes, butchers mate and other articles sold by weight or measure in the County of Dublin; driving cattle within the City of Dublin; ship quarantines; health of prisoners in goal; encouragement of whale and other fisheries; regulating the trials of controverted elections or returns of members to serve in Parliament; encouraging the planting of timber trees; repairing the road leading from the City of Dublin to Navan in the County of Meath, from Navan to the Town of Nobber, and from Navan to the town of Kells; directing funds granted for the making wide and convenient passages through the City of Dublin; better regulation of the baking trade in the City of Dublin; further encouragement of tillage; execution of laws relative to the turnpike road in Ireland; preventing the cutting or destroying of plain, stained or printed linens, cotton lawns or muslins; amending public roads; relief of insolvent debtors; encouragement of tillage and rendering less expensive the carriage of corn to the City of Dublin; clarifying laws for supplying the City of Dublin with corn and flour; establishing militia in Ireland; repairing the road leading from Maryborough in the Queen's County through the towns of Mountrath, Castletown, and Borris in Ossory in the same county, and from thence through Roscrea in County Tipperary and Dunkerrin in the King's County to Tomvarah [Toomevara] in the County of Tipperary; repairing the road leading from Nenagh (Tipperary) through Birr and Firbane (King's County) to Curranabey Bridge on the turnpike road leading to Athlone (Westmeath); better regulation of the police in the City of Cork; better regulation of the linen and hempen manufacturers. The Private Bills relate to: the estate of the Right Honourable James late Lord Baron Kingston; explaining and amending an act enabling Jon Preston Esquire to charge his estates in the Counties of Meath and Queen's County with a further sum for the payment of his debts.
