Folios 279-280. Letter from the Earl of Buckingham to Lord Viscount Weymouth regarding the Bill for the Relief of His Majesty's Roman Catholic Subjects in Ireland, which was sealed that day in Council and which he is sending by messenger. He observes that the bill did not pass the Council without opposition - some Lords of great weight and consequence objected to the whole of the bill, and others to the clause in favour of the Presbyterians only, but their numbers were not sufficient to divide or put a question upon either point. He adds his opinion, that a much greater number would have appeared against the Presbyterian clause if they had not conceived that it might be more properly rejected in England than in Ireland. Dated at Dublin Castle.
