Description

Folios 123-126. Letter from Lord Viscount Weymouth to the Earl of Buckingham regarding a paper presented by Count Welderen [Jan Walraad van Welderen, the Dutch envoy in London] and Monsieur Dreyer [Christopher de Dreyer, Envoy Extraordinary from the King of Denmark to Britain] regarding the Danish brigantine the Christiana that had been seized in Sneem Harbour by the Officers of the Revenue in April 1777, and later condemned in October 1777. Buckingham is requested to direct the necessary inquiry in to the state of the case, that a proper answer may be given to Welderen and Dreyer. Dated at St James's. Enclosed: Folios 125-126: Letter from J Marriott [Sir James Marriott, King's Advocate?] to the Earl of Suffolk, dated at the College of Advocates, Doctors Commons, on 16 May 1778. Marriott considers the case of the Danish brigantine Christiana should be referred to 'such Law Officer of ye Crown as cases of Revenue in Ireland are usually referred'.
