Description

Folios 262-263: Thomas Williams, HMS Lizard, Spithead. Encloses copies of the orders received from Captain Grindale, Rear Admiral Kingsmill and Captain Bentinck.

Folios 264-265: enclosure with folios 262-263. Order given by Captain Richard Grindale, HMS Thalia dated 17 January 1794. Orders Captain Williams, on the signal, to take part of the convoy up St George's and Bristol Channels to their destination Ports. Then, for as long as provisions will last, to"annoy" and gain intelligence of a French convoy which is heading home from America. Due to the"tempestuous" weather and long nights will be dispersed. After which go to Spithead.

Folios 266-267: enclosure with folios 262-263. Order given by Captain Richard Grindale, HMS Thalia dated 17 January 1794. Orders Captain Williams, on the signal, to take part of the convoy up St George's and Bristol Channels to their destination Ports. Then, for as long as pro Order given by Robert Kingsmill, Rear Admiral of the White off the coast of Ireland dated 14 July 1794. Stating he is to be under the command of Captain Bentinck of HMS Adamant.

Folios 268-269: enclosure with folios 262-263. Order given by Captain Richard Grindale, HMS Thalia dated 17 January 1794. Orders Captain Williams, on the signal, to take part of the convoy up St George's and Bristol Channels to their destination Ports. Then, for as long as proOrder given by Captain William Bentinck of HMS Adamant. If they get parted to use best endeavours to rejoin. If this is not possible to follow the Order of Captain Grindale.
