Folios 208-209: Charles White, HMS Favourite at the Nore. Encloses Notice of Action (not with letter) which was served on him relating to the Industry Lugger and the seizure of a quantity of gin and other contraband goods on 19 July. Also encloses copy of ship's log (not with letter) which gave details of the lugger's location. Confirms sent Billing of Lading to the Customs House at Rochester. It appears that the name of the Master is not the same as in the Register or Licence, being Thomas Mantle. Licence only permitted fishing and piloting from Isle of Wight to the North Foreland. In compliance with Admiral Dalrymple's orders will proceed tomorrow (13 August) with other vessels to the River Schedlt Texel Wiser and Elbe and therefore requests Admiralty solicitor will arrange for delay of trial until his return. Also Admiralty will give him and his officers leave of absence to attend the hearing.
