Folios 287-288: Francis Wooldridge, HMS Fortune, Thursday Morning 1100 AM. Reports his arrival at Guernsey with the convoy for Africa, on 23 April 1793. Advises that on 23 April 1793 the French attacked the island of Jersey. Reports signals from Jersey of beacons burning around midnight and also firing from the island and the French being seen in the early evening. Advises he has sent despatches by express from Weymouth from Colonel Commandant Thomas Dundas and the Governor of Guernsey, Lieutenant Colonel William Brown, advising the Secretary of State of the attack, and will now return to Guernsey and assist if wanted. Lord Amherst also mentioned.
