Folios 241-242: Henry Vansittart, HMS Magicienne. He reports that while following the enclosed orders he struck the Hinder Bank near Helvoetsluys and then grounded on the Pampins Banks. He said the master of his ship had assured him that he knew the port well and so he had not engaged a pilot as he did not want to lose time and a fair wind. It transpired that in recent times that the ground had changed and shifted greatly and so the markers were of little use. He apologises for his mistake which he will not repeat. Despite the mishap his ship is not leaking and does not appear to be damaged. He reports he is now disembarking the troops he is carrying.
Folio 243: enclosure with folios 241-242. The orders of Leveson Gower of HMS Pomone to Henry Vansittart of HMS Magicienne, dated 1 September 1802. The order states HMS Magicienne is to go to Jersey and receive on board Dutch troops and then proceed to Texel and land them there.
Folio 244: enclosure with folios 241-242. The orders dated 21 August 1802 of Leveson Gower of HMS Pomone to Henry Vansittart of HMS Magicienne. He is to take on board 250 officers, women and children and land them at Helvoetsluys under the direction of Lieutentant Colonel Sontag. The troops are to be fed when they are on board. When that is done he must then go to Jersey and wait the arrival of HMS Pomone
