Folios 446-447: James Vashon, Pompee, Spithead. Informs their Lordships he has returned to Spithead as ordered by Sir Alan Gardner. Encloses a copy of his log which have an account of the vessels he saw in the roads off Cherbourg on 16 August and statement of the condition and state of the Pompee and Irresistible.[latter not present]
Folio 448: enclosure with folios 446-447. James Vashon. Account of vessels seen in the road of Cherbourg and in the dry harbour within the pier on 16 August 1796. In the Cherbourg Roads: 2 floating batteries, 3 armed schooners, 3 armed luggers , 2 armed cutters, 1 merchant brig and 2 sloops.
Folios 449-456: Enclosure with folios 446-447. Copy of the ship's log from 11-19 August 1796.
