Folios 441-442: George Vancouver, Petersham, Surrey. He understands their Lordships want details of the persons to be employed for the engravings and estimates of their expenses. He encloses them [not present] but points out they are provisional.He points out that the Government met the expenses of publishing the account of Captain Cook voyage to the the tune of about £1000. He goes on to give reasons as to why he thinks his expenses will be greater. He thinks there will be less interest in his account. He also mentions some of the financial difficulties he faced on his voyage which involved him in private expense.
Folio 443: enclosure with folios 441-442. Note of reply. Tell him to employ the engravers, then send the engraving to their Lordships who will determine how much to pay. They will make the final choice of accompanying prints.
