Folios 248-249: James Tomkinson, HMS Musquito, Hamoaze. Making a request on behalf of George Pigot, Lieutenant, of HMS Surprise, the nephew of Hugh Pigot, Captain of HMS Nymph. Asking whether George Pigot can be removed from the 'peculiar circumstances' under which he is now serving into another frigate. George Pigot was originally serving as First Lieutenant on HMS Musquito when Sir Alexander Inglis Cochrane, Vice Admiral, wrote to Sir Philip Charles Calderwood Henderson Durham, Rear Admiral, to have Pigot sent to his ship. As HMS Musquito was about to depart for the West Indies, Pigot was sent on board HMS Surprise, Sir Thomas John Cochrane, Captain, to await the arrival of Vice Admiral Sir Alexander Inglis Cochrane. They have not yet fallen in with Vice Admiral Alexander Cochrane and during this time Pigot has been serving only in the position of a Second Lieutenant.
