Folios 243-244: Joseph Tullidge, HMS Clinker, Spithead. Requesting that the 'R' (deserter) is removed against Edwin Lew, Midshipman, on the books of HMS Clinker. Explains Lew was given leave in June 1814 to visit his relatives at Spithead but did not return in time to join the ship to sail to America. Tullidge has never believed it was Lew's intention to desert and has since learned that he had fallen ill and only sufficiently recovered to return to the ship on 24 May 1815.
